  • Camaro 2-Color Tail light --> 3-Color?

    Has anybody tried swapping out their '93-'96 dual colored tail lights for the '97 and up tri-color? I was thinking about it and wanted to see if any of you had specific recommendations or maybe even guesses on how much a swap like that might cost.

      They DO have different hookups, but it CAN be done. In fact, ive dont it but I cant figure out how to get the 3rd brake light to work with the 97s in.

      You have to get the taillights and the wiring. I got them from Lambert's auto (i cant remember the price). But Im sure speedautomotive has them too. In fact sometimes you can get em off ebay.

      Anyway, after that its a matter of installing them and replacing your wiring with the 97+ wiring. Then you have to run a new wire from your brake switch (under the dash) to the back. That way the brakes and the turn sigs work properly. The only problem is that your 3rd brake light wont work and your ABS INOP light will stay on because of that.

      There was a link incl. the instructions for this. If i find it i'll post it. Otherwise, good luck with it.

      I have a set of 97s and the wiring needed if your interested.

      edit: for the link ;)

        I personally love the way the 2colored ones look. I think they look sorta cat eyeish at night. Sounds like its alot of work to convert though, have fun doing it if you do!

          Thanks for all the info, Justin!
          Now I just have to decide whether I actually want to do it. ;)
