  • SLP Ram Air Hood

How well will this hood fit on my '99 Firebird? Will there be trouble getting it to fit correctly?

    http://www.slponline.com/view_product.asp?P=100075

Also... how hard will it be to match my 6 year old red paint if I just have the hood painted?

</font>[/QUOTE]Right, I realize that. I guess my question was more asking...

as with any aftermarket hood, I don't expect this one to be perfect. But will it fit pretty nicely? What are the quality of SLP hoods?

              Oh yeah it will fit..

              After tons of work.

My ultra-z needed MAJOR mods to look as good as it does. Hood hinge mods, latch mods, fender slotting, shimming, you name it.

I thought for a while it was warped, and called SLP support, even sent pics, they then ignored me until after I told them I got it fixed. Asked me how, i told them 3 months of hell, and gave them a list. They replied, and were not shocked. Then, ignored me again.

I will not buy from them again. I do love/hate the hood though.

And it wasnt just my car, removed the SLP, put back the stock hood, and it went right on flush.

The SLP? high on one side by more than an inch. Blah. Found this was commen later, from multiple SLP hood owners.

Be careful. It's far from a quick and easy, bolt-on affair.

BTW I got 9hp extra with a lid and the hood. Far from 15.

That depends on who is doing the work. A good paint shop (NOT Maaco), can blend the paint into the fenders to get everything to look smooth.

there is alot of work involved with slp's hoods. im pretty sure they were intended to be this way. i know the firehawk and h.o. hood have to have the front bumper cut in order to fit.

rabid, im also sure those gains were for an ls1 not a v6. you will have different numbers of course.

put a firehawk hood on mine and the cutting wasn't that bad. did it myself with an exacto knife and unless you are really looking for the cut you don't notice it. other than cutting the fascia, i had absolutely no other problems getting the hood on and lined up perfectly.
