As long as the offset is correct, they will not rub. Something in the +50 to +55 is probably what you want, although you could go out as far as +40 or so. I have +38 offset ZR1's on mine and they fill out the wheel wells nicely.
Were you looking for actual GM wheels or replicas? Because you can get replicas like these with plain center caps.
hey i put my zr1 17 x 9.5 and omg!!! they look so much better than what i thought and no no rubbing!! had them on my maro also u can fit 11's if u wanted to!! u have a red firebird i know on my white the zr1's look awesome for your car i suggest the following:
c5,c6,zr1,z06 all in CHROME!!! all will look very awesome and do wonders to your car just your preference and i have done business with oe wheels through ebay on my zr1's got them shipped to my door for under 1100 very good deel and fast shipping!!! good company just whatever u like and shoot me up on aim : goldmaro98 as we both just picked up our firebird and we have mod fever hehe!!
I have 18's in the back and 17 up front. I heard there are a lot of issues with 18 front and 19 rear. Also, mine are kinda tucked in. I dont really want that and to get rid of it i need like 5/8" spacers. you want lower offset numbers than i have to get rid of the tucked in look. plus the fact that fbird fenders come out farther than camaro ones.
read around ls1tech.com there are like a gazillion c6 wheel threads and offset and fitment stickys
ive got c6 rims, they are 18x9.5 and they dont rub or have any trouble at all. Ill post a pic tomorrow of my car. They look damn good on my car
Most of the 18/19 sets I'm finding on eBay are +79mm offset rears which are not going to fit. You'd need a 1" spacer just to get them out where they wouldn't rub.
I also found these
but still +68 offset rears I think are gonna need spaced out to work.
Replicas like the link to AAA Rims I posted above and AFS Wheels sell the correct offsets to fit Camaro/Firebird, most wheels in the +50 to +56 range work fine. I prefer the ones spaced out a bit further like +35 to +40 on the Pontiacs to put the edge right out at the fender lip, but wheels in that offset are limited.
Also, tires are not cheap, $250 and up for a 285/30R19.

So I was thinking about doing 18x8.5 fronts and 19x10 rears. That won't work?"
it'll work . c6 rims dont fit the same as c5 rims, in that they 'hide' inside the fenders more. 18in rims will fit fine, but if you put any kind of cargo in the back of your car, i.e. subs, or passengers you will have to pound your wheel wells in a bit. its not bad at all, its actually pretty easy, but you will have to do this if you plan on transporting people in your car. if you need any more info, ill be glad to dig up a tutorial on it.
