  • Cutting T-Tops

I have an 02 camaro that did not origanlly come with t-tops. I want to get t-tops but I know that having it professionally done would be expensive. How hard is it to do it yourself and how much would it cost?

      T-top weatherstripping
      T-bar center bar piece
      t-top holders(for in trunk)
      Reciever brackets

      All you would need is...
      -t-top headliner

Before you ask no they don't leak.

I have noticed no structural integrity loss(t-top and hardtop cars are the same thing pretty much in 4th gens, 3rd gens is where they were completely different.)

And if you don't trust that I drive my car hard to see if there is structural integrity loss...

I'm 23, and live in an apartment with no garage and go to school...

my parents and their garage is 225 miles away from me.

I did it at a friend's apartment complex in his "garage" until we got kicked out, then we did some on campus in a parking garage, and did some at a friends house with his air tools.

Its really pretty easy, not as hard as it looks, you are more "de-engineering things then" putting t-tops in. More taking off the crap GM added on so the T-tops fit. The bolt holes for the center piece and reciever brackets are already in hardtop cars, along with 95% of the weatehrstripping channel.

Biggest regret I had starting it and doing it is... I waited so long to actually do it.

I think 2-3 peopel have done it on this board.

How long did it take and how hard was it? How much do the rest of the parts cost?

                      No problem...

Rest of the stuff varies, best way to do it in my opinoin, is scan ebay for a little and scan all the f-body message boards, v6 and v8 and look for people parting out cars.

a headliner see if you can find one local or I hear they are $100 new form the dealer so not too bad. Just they are bulky and cost like $100 to ship.

Targa top is really hard, you will need customs fabrication alone just to make a top... subframes and more...

go to cz28.com and do a search for targa top and whistler... He is the only guy that I know who has done it. It looked cool but I have heard that even him hisself doesn't really think it was worth all the work, this is coming form personal friends of his.

All f-bodies were made t-top cars, some were added that parts to make it a full t-top car... some were added the parts to make it a hardtop car.

Never was made to be a targa top car.
