well it's done. all in all it was pretty easy. i would like to have had more of a hand in making it, but i had to leave while my dad was doing the cutting, for x rays on my foot. cause it looks like i might have broken my ancle. and if that's the case i won't be driving for a while.

so anyways, this isn't the finished project. the inside of the box will be part fire proff since the little wood shelf is where the nitrous bottle will now be, and the other side is going to be my new hatch storage since i'm putting t tops in and will now need the hatch for t top holders. i'm going to put moldings on the edges so you don't see the cut carpet. and i'm going to make a custom camaro lettering on the rear of the deck.

let me know what you think so far.

eh to eaches own...i usually let people ride the metal back there...some claim its actually more comfortable then the stock seats since it gives you more leg room hehe.

it look ok i guess... dont really see the need for the big box, could have done some more creative things with it but hey if you like it thats all that matters.

well i just decided and yes it looks like 2 subs are going in there. once it's done this think will look alot better.

the reason why i did it was because this has been in my head for a while now so i needed to get it out. i can hide my nitrous bottle in a new way, have storage, a true 2 seater camaro(no one sits back there anyways) and i'm done the performance on my car so now i have to wrap with the apperence. like i said this is just the shell(if you will) ahhh so many possibles with this thing.

awesome! I like the way you hid the bottle
how much weight did you lose from that??

                and about the subs....
                subs = extra weight
& extra weight makes your car slow

no it's going to be right behind the door only because then you can see it thew the rear window. and the possibles are endless

as for the weight, i don't know now much to 10 inch subs weight. but right now i'm about 10 lbs lighter.

depends on the magnets but your talking probably 10lbs per sub + the materials that will make up the box...if you use particle board figure another 30lbs i suppose.

I would love to do mine like yours kristen, but i have 2 little kids. My camaro is my play toy for the weekends. I have a company truck, and personal truck. The kids love the camaro the most.

I think it would look better if the carpet matched, and it was tucked under the speaker panels..

If your gonna put 2 10" subs, you might as well just go with 1 12". Or 2 12"s with that room to burn.

AFAIK subs that are 10" (and decent quality, not huge SPL) are AT LEAST ~25lbs a piece....

Plus, your gonna want to brace the boxes and make them super stiff, which is usaully 3/4" MDF board....

So my sugestion is that if you want subs, just forget about weight.
