wheel question

So I decided its time for new wheels. Ive decided that I want chrome C5 wheels. I went and got a quote from Les Schwab for 17 X 8.5 5 lug - 4.74 with original corvette tires (275/40ZR-17 Ventus K104 all season tires) The total price including balancing, installation, lug nuts, and rubber base stems was $1700. WTF!

So I decided to look around online. Ive been looking on ebay and Ive found tons of good priced wheels.

My first question is on the center where the crossed flags are, none of the ones on ebay are painted. Is there any way I can get them painted or have somebody do it? I ask becuase I think the red/black center flags would go good with my red/black color combo I have on the car.

My second question is there are some sets of staggered 18"/17" sets. Will 18's fit on f-bodies or do they need some type of spacers? I know the C5's are 8.5 inch wide so would they need spacing?

Well if you go on to ebay... there is a pretty good dealer on there that sells camaro/firebird/corvette rims and tire sets, but you will have to research it. Usually goes around the price of $700-$800 plus shipping. There are alot to come by, but i just forget his dealer name. I am planning on ordering from him as soon as i find him again. i think 17"s are perfect on camaros... it doesnt overwhelm the car.

Ok, well I will keep looking. Let me know if you can find this guy. The only problem I have with ebay is that my friend bought some wheels from there and ended up gettin screwed out of like $1200. He bought the optional insurance and the guy just dissapeared after my friend sent him the money. Paypal told him there was nothing he could do about it.

Best thing I found in our area is Discount Tire.
I was looking at black ZO6 vette repos & Hankook Venus HR II H405 275/40/17's for 1378.39. I live in Bellingham. Take your Schwabby quote to them & I know they can do better.

They sell staggered sets on ebay. Ive got a set. Black c5's on my 96RS. 17x8.5 up ront and 18x9.5 in the rear. I should have a pic of them mounted in a few mins after this post on the last page of my cardomain website.

I would love to see that pic. Realy want 17s on front & 18s on back, but hear to much about rubbing, you ever have problem with yours? What size tires do you run on them? Thanks, Crash.

pics are on the site in my sig....page 9. I run 255 40 17's up front and 275 35 18 out back. No rubbing issues at all.
