  • Clear coating rear filler panel

Rather than removing the old letters and bird, sanding, buffing and then applying new decals, I bought a new center filler panel (with the bird and the word "Firebird").

Before I install it, I was wondering if I can or should / should not apply clear coat to it. Would it look OK? Would it change the appearance of the filler panel and the lettering & bird? Would it help protect it from fading at all?

Thanks for any and all advice and comments!
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

Advice -if you decide to clearcoat it and you have never painted body parts before, get it done professionally. It'll cost a bit more, but it will look awesome.

OK - how much will it cost? Will it protect the letters bird from fading?

      Thanks!

Take a look at my website below, I had the rear filler panel painted and clearcoated for $80.
I'm not sure, but I guess it will keep the color from fading...

EDIT: I carried the filler panel into the bodyshop, and then had them paint it.
