painting trans am bumper red?

Ok, you know how there are a few TAs out there that paint that lower section of the bumper (under the indented line) flat black or grey? well my car is black and i have the TA bumper, what if i painted it to match the red color of the honeycomb tailights? look at this picture and try to imagine it... i might get those tips too, i want something long that will fill out the space well...

thanks, maybe a red and black theme going on outside, and my aluminum junk inside... i think it would be cool possibly, but maybe too much...

im thinking about red side vents, maybe chrome or red firebird decal (probably chrome) red calipers (if i decide to go red/black) and maybe the red PONTIAC letters on the bumper. what do u guys think...

maybe just paint the line ther is a guy on ls1.com that did that on a silver camaro but he also did the flat black thing though ill see if i cant find the link for ya

Please don't ruin your beautiful car by putting tacky red stuff all over it. If you want to do something to the vents at least do it silver to match your aluminum stuff inside. And if you want to do something to the rr bottom of the TA bumper, do it flat black or if you really wanna do red, try that red line that BLACKBYRD mentioned by using some red pinstripe tape, that way you can just hairdry it off later if you don't like it anymore.

lol dont worry f1gt im not going to paint it red lol, I must say that PewterBird's and ThatsMe's PS' of it looks pretty good, i would probably go with a darker red but i do agree that it is a little too much for my car (especially since im trying to keep it clean lol) the LINE however might look good, maybe ill get some red yarn and check it out, ill do that tomarrow maybe and post pics for you guys lol maybe if i like the yarn ill just glue it inplace..... haha just kidding!! lol

i really want those tips too... really really.... maybe if i can find some that arent off of a caddy... maybe some flat tips/squarish oval ones... i saw that ractive makes some that are kinda similar.. ill be shoppin around, anyone know of any rectangle tips that are kinda rounded like those that will fit the TA bumper nicely? lol

hah! i just had a very cool idea!!

after seeing that line that blackbyrd posted a link of, i think that instead of red, mabe a chrome line would look cool for my car....

and after that i would either have a chrome PONTIAC insert or maybe a red one... but im not sure yet... i might end up leaving it black, i think the chrome line would tie the rear together with the sides (chrome wheels) and maybe with the addition of some chrome tips... but the PONTIAC might be overdoing it... we'll see [img]smile.gif[/img] thanks everyone!

maybe if it was more of a dark dark red or ghosty red that looked black in the dark but when light hit it it showed a dark ruby redto it... sorta the way the tailights are... YOU COULD HONEYCOMB THE BUMPER! lol.... anyways... im going to attempt the stripe... duno bout the PONTIAC yet though..

i cant help myself, its my hobby. ive finally learned a good deal of self control however, this was one of those things i had though about but would 98% chance never do, i saw how many ppl with different colored cars were doing it so i figured a way to make it work with a black car... anyways.

i belive that i have enough taste with my car that i wont ruin it, leave the modding and guinea-pigginess to me, we need people like me to do creative things to our cars. otherwise everyones car would look the same because everyone would be too afraid of messing up their ride. [img]smile.gif[/img]

yeah but im pretty sure you can leave painting the back bumper a completely different color without doing any other red stuff to the car off the list. that is just ludacris..

if he wants to know for sure he can get wrapping paper that is red and make a cover for it (this is just to get the idea) and tape it on there. that way you have minimal money and you can also pic the color you want.

yeah ive already decided not to paint it. and if i had painted it, i was going to do calipers and vents to compliment it and tie the sides together, you gotta pull things together and get the scheme over the entire body... i also have red BMR boxed subframes that will show outside, so i will have a lot of red around the car anyways, and i can do decals as well, so having red elsewhere wont be an issue, but im more of a black and chrome guy, i just am trying to think of something to make my tailights more "at home" amidst the black and chrome scheme... anyways i would like to have to guts to do something like that, which dramatically changes the appearance of the car, but im not sure if i could. anyways.

im thinking of getting some of that ghetto chrome weatherstripping you see on all of those chryslers and what not that the "mexicans" sorry not trying to be racist but around here they are the ones who like to do this to their cars lol, they outline the doors and stuff, anyways, i could use that stuff to fill in the line on the bumper instead of red.. anyone able to PS a chrome or maybe just silver line into that gap? thanks!!!!

otherwise ill do a red line and then red calipers and maybe red vents, or maybe not.. damn this is difficult... i dont want to go overboard... but im going to have those SFCs stickingout the bottom, and my interior lighting is red and so are all my gauges and cd player, my engine bay loom is red, too... i wanted to incorporate the tailights into the car as a part of the scheme but i dont know about the red... suggestions?
