I would just take it off. aftermarket hoods do not even have it. just have fun and start pulling, the little plastic things will pop right off95 Firebird
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/673250
http://photobucket.com/albums/y217/andrewbrandon19/

me on a good day------> linky

My current car never came with one...
besides I heard they are a safety hazard... if you spray oil/gas or anything flammable it sort of soaks it up, and then you have a flammable soaked sponge on top of your motor.-Eric
2000 NBM V6 Camaro 5-speed T-top converted
14.467@95.45mph $0 in mods
The member formerly known as MustangEater8251

I have pics of mine in my sig (cardomain) but mine did not come with one. Its a 02 so I don't think they used them in the newer models.2002 Firebird Y87 & W68, A4, Magnaflow Exhaust, Whisper lid, K&N, 3.42 gears, LSD
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/770634/1

Besides a possible heat shield since its fiberglass, wouldn't it be sound deadener? My car doesn't have one eitherZaino; FireBatCave Decals; Red Inside

K&N Filter & Lid; Removed MAF screen; FRA; Raised Air Box; 180°F Stat; BMR STB; 3\" Catco & S-pipe; Borla Cat-Back; O2 Sim; HPPIII; NGK TR55s; Taylor 8mm wires

http://www.cardomain.com/id/cbass300

I believe their purpose is to be a sound deadener. My after market hood doesn't have one, and I've never had a problem without it. I even got creative with the large space under the hood and had vinyl graphics reading "98 PONTIAC Firebird" installed. Just something unique. I have a pic of it somewhere on my car domain site. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/857214http://www.cardomain.com/ride/857214
