  • People with red calipers come in.

    I am currently painting my calipers red, but it looks more orange. The paint i am using is Flat Red. Have you guys had this problem? What color Red is best? And how many coats? Thanx
    Factory:Camaro 5 speed, Color Pewter, w/ t-tops and Y87 package. <br />Engine: K&N filter w/ Whisper Lid, FRA, Borla adjustable cat-back exhaust. Hurst w/ Short Stick<br />Interior:Oil temp. and Air/Fuel ratio gauges, System.<br />Exterior: Black outs front and back, 18 in. Lenso rims w/ Kumho Supra 275/35ZR18 tires, also limo tint on sides and back.<br />173.2rwhp-----200.5tq

      Pep-Boys ;) High temp engine paint, the one that says universal red...and I put about 6 coats on mine ;)

        Agreed. After spraying mine about 5 times, I sprayed some clearcoat on top to give it a shiny red look. I thought the clearcoat would burn off, but so far after 300 miles it hasn't. Shines nice!

            You guys are crazy! Walk into Wal-Mart, get any red you like either Spray on or Brush on. For me, I picked the brush on red enamel so I didn't paint my entire wheel well red. Like the model car paint ($2.37 you may want to get 2 if you are doing all four wheels). I just did my backs last week and double checked the fronts from last year. I had three coats on the front. No scratches, no chips. I thought the paint sucked until I checked. The paint was dirty not scuffed or scratched.

            Now, although you are paying $38 dollars from tire rack, do you plan on grinding to get a smooth finish? A dremel and 3-4 wire disks should work.
