There is no way I'm going to use the applicator that came with the package, however. That thing looks like a scratch-o-matic.
i would suggest using the pad it come swith, theres no way i would of been able to apply as much as i did with a rag or towel

NXT doesn't rid the paint of swirl marks, it only HIDES them. Swirl marks are tiny scratches in the clear coat. Waxes like NXT do a good job of filling them so they are not visible to the eye, this does not mean that the marks aren't still there. Waxing in a back and forth motion as opposed to circular helps to minimize the creation of swirls when you are waxing. If you want to maximize your coverage, do one panel at a time and be thorough.

What did that prove? I'll give you the answer: nothing. Only polishing can remove swirl marks: NXT hides swirl marks, smoothing them over temporarily. Eventually the NXT will wear off and the paint will look swirled again. That write-up on the Meguiar's site was obviously written by someone in the marketing department, not someone who actually knows anything about paint.

EDIT: I also know this from experience using NXT over a period of over 6 months: I couldn't see swirls in the paint after waxing, but as the wax wore off the swirls returned.

just got a bottle; where should I get these microfiber towels? I heard the ones in walmart and other retail places are crap. Is the applicator that came with it really that evil?

Its probably just me. I never use anything but 100% cotton on my car.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

There are some great microfiber towels there: I recommend the Concours buffing towel, SOOO SOFT!!

Cotton sucks, microfiber is the best thing out there.
