how should I proceed with the outer appearance of my car?
It's a Blue-Green Chameleon color, which means it can vary from a hunder green to a dark purple depending on light conditions. Below are some sample images.
So far:
Reflective silver vinyl overlays for Pontiac lettering and Firebirds on doors
Removed door trim (molding)
Redid the taillight filler with a 2nd gen hand painted silver bird
Clear front license plate cover (I would put the regular filler in there, but base MP's can hit me for a $100 ticket for no front plate)
I just recently added foglight covers. Here's a really horrible pic.
Here's what I've learned so far:
1) The car has no door moldings... they came off some time last year. They were there in the 2nd pic, but are gone by the 3rd one... Should I kill the firebird door moldings? Really looking hard at that one.
2) Tailfiller. The more I look at it the more I realized that I made a mistake. The bird is too thin. I never really liked that little tiny decal much, and am still pining away for my 72 TA. This is my little tribute to that car. Think it's time to go on e-bay and get another filler.
3) My foglight covers... I like em, but should I move towards silver or does black look ok. I thought about blackouts, but I think it might look out of place with all the silver and green.
4) 17's possibly 18's - Chrome. I'm looking at them, but I look the smaller wheel looks of the 70's cars.... tough decision for me.
5) Orange = crap. Clear = good. Check
6) Pillar birds = no no. Check, and thanks for the heads up. Might look at getting them painted on WAY down the road.
7) Tint. Check
8) Nothing else, at least a SLP hood.
9) Lowering.... I'm gonna hold off on that one. California is paranoid about flooding. As a result they make all turn-outs steep. Pain in the *** as it is.
10) Lastly. I'm gonna paint the calipers black, but polish the caliper brackets.
