Just looking for an update on HID conversions for 93-7 Firebirds
Are they illegal as an aftermarket replacement?
I would like to hear from 93-7 Firebird owners that have done this
conversion(not simply the H-7 conversion) as to how they work in the long haul.
well, I dont have a bird. But ive had my hids in my maro and then swapped em to my truck had em for over 2 years now and they're still burnin strong. Yes they are illegal for the simple fact the light is contained. if you look at the headlights on a bimmer or a benz you'll see its a sharply cut line where the light stops, as to not blind drivers. that is the only thing that makes em illegal...other than that Ive never been stopped for em.
surely someone, somewhere has done this to a Firebird.
Ebay is full of the kits to convert sealed beams to halogens then convert those to HIDs but the main drawback to those systems is you lose high beams.
Ive seen a few systems that have additional high beam bulb added to the headlight body but not sure these are of a quality worth buying.Since the 93-7s used a single sealed beam both low and high beam are
in one.
im planning on doing it, but i dont have a 93-97 so i wont be loosing my high beams
no fate but what we make
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/748167/1
I got these from ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33710
their cool. The only thing i had to do is go to autozone and buy the heavy duty pig tail wires that go in the back. But it sucks becouse one of my lights when out and i had to buy another pair for $35 bucks.
you mean the hyper white silverstars? they arent technically HID they just look like them i am thinking of doing this pretty soon, let me know how you like them if you do this.
2001 Arctic White Firebird With Black Drop Top

3:42 Gears
Zexel LSD
BMR upper A-Arms
Trans Am exhaust with 3\" I-pipe and cutout
Modified intake
Mecham Hood
Trans Go shift kit
Making rear control arms and panhard
no I have the silverstars in my 01 S10 both 9005 and 9006s
Those arent HIDs just a hotter burning halogen.
What im looking for is a true HID that replaces the sealed beam for H4666 or H 4656.
Sylvania had those at one time but dont see them listed anymore. If anyone has knowledge of this conversion post it.
I have installed Xenon Lights and the Diamond Euro Headlights.
Its illegal and the light is poorer than stock - but it looks damn cool :D
;)

Im after more light that wont annoy oncoming traffic so I guess the kit you used isnt the answer if its worse than stock.Do you think its just the bulbs or are the housings designed wrong for HIDs?
Any successful conversions out there?
The poor light with the Xenon is because real Xenon uses Lenses to get the light out, for these i dont have enugh space in the firebird pop up headlights,...
