My car is black and I repainted my whole front end 7 months ago and you cant even tell anymore that it was painted. Thats why I hate to paint anything anymore.

I had my front bumper cover painted twice and I wasn't about to do it the third time. i put a Bra on it to cover it up. It would be something I'd only do on a black car. Black Bras look funny on other color cars. Our front ends are so low to the ground we can't get away from rock chips. If i were you I could take that car to the dealership wile it's under warranty and get it fixed. I don't know why it would be green except if the primer coat was green and they didn't do enough coats of black, that somehow the green is starting to come through.
anyone think the dealer would actually re-paint my entire car because of the chips or at least the hood and roof? I really do think that the paint is flimsy because before i put on the door edge guards paint lliterally just rubbed off with no problem. Anyways these chips do suck and im not expecting any help from the dealer. anyways whats the average paint job for a hood and roof? 500 + 200 = 700????

Your expecting too much from the dealership....them fockers dont do jack for us.....
The paint that the new cars come with are made out of synthetic base oil and enamel or in
other words the paint that Maaco uses. Here's
the think though, they don't spray a clearcoat
after the base coat. They mix the clear coat
and the base coat. That's why the custom cars
are shinier than new cars because a GOOD paint
job with Dupont paint runs around a few grand
from a auto body shop.

Yeah, but when I bought a car 2 years ago it had to be a Black 97 Camaro or a 2000 Red firebird, the firebird was $21,000 and mine was $13,467. So I choose the Camaro.

If I was you Edwin, I would go to Maaco and get the $300 dollar basecoat paint job(too bad their $150 paint job deal is over) Or in other
words let them spray the paint. Buy your own clearcoat (which is the layer on top of the
original paint) from a local paint shop (clearcoat doesn't run more than $100 a gallon for the best brand unlike paint) and spray 2 layers of clearcoat on top of the basecoat paint.
Ask Maaco how much they charge hourly. So, they
can spray the clearcoat for you. The clearcoat is the most important factor to protect your paint.
Maaco's clearcoat sucks! DO NOT LET THEM MIX THE CLEARCOAT WITH THE BASE COAT. That's why they have a bad reputation. The paint would be under the clearcoat. You shouldn't worry much about the basecoat paint but the clearcoat because the sun rays are strong. That's why it's important to wax your car. After buying a new car and not waxing it after a few years it would get dull.......WHY, Because the sun rays is eating out the clearcoat. Wax is not important for looks but to help protect your clearcoat.

can you fix spots on your bumpers where the clear coat's come off? i have like 3 spots on my front and back bumpers where fairly large sized clear coatless spots have arisen. What all does it take to fix?
