well..finally got around to airbrushing my airlid...the pic quality is aweful..and there was ONE problem..bottom right hand side the paint BUBBLED when I put on clear coat...and I have no idea why (Michelle might you know?!) but it came out okay..gonna buff out the bubbled area and repaint it this weekend

    another

and a pic of my engine bay as is..almost done..gonna do wire recolation on passenger side, and remove stickers on drivers side..and I made the battery decal also

Comments?! Suggestions?! Alot of people dont really like it, I might sand it down, repaint it and come up with a differant design. Not to sure yet..well let me kno :D
    Thanks!!

try thinner flames and i think it will turn out better. and if you used more then one layer of clear coat if u apply them to close together it bubbles up.

I don't mean to offend you but those flames look horrible. You need to redisign your flames and repaint it. I would also think about going solid red but changing colors isn't bad. I have realized I can draw within the last year and flames is one of the things I can draw rather decently Your flames are to fat and just kinda sitting next to eachother. The curves of each flame need to interact with eachother kind of in a random way. I don't know how to explain it, I'll sketch a couple flames and take a pic to give you some ideas. Look around for flame pics online to give you ideas too. I would think about maybe having some flames go over the top of the lid too. Good first attempt though

Just checked out your car, beautifull car. If your gonna do two colors on your flames I'd go with silver and red, should tie your ext and underhood together nice

imo , the flames look to uniform... give it some random ness go wild with it and it looks liek you used a stencle , ive never much liked that effect i like the faded edges of an air brush because fire its self fades because of the light it emmits

This was my first time really airbrushing anything so I wanted a basic design, I think I can do more elaborate things now. So by next week Ill have another design and yea..black into silver would be kool. Ill probably do somethign with that

Yes they are right the flames need to have a pattern and should be uniform. Higher in the middle....take a look at mine and see what I mean.
Also as far as the paint bubbling it looks like from the pic you didnt sand the surface and clean it good??

And what Raven98RS the flames need to be negative as well as positive..taking up the same space in each...teardrop like

It takes practice so get a board and practice laying out the flames like I told you. Did you use the tape??

I actually cut out a stencil and taped the stencil on tight. And yea I didnt make ne other designs, just made that one in like 5 minutes and used it. This time im gonna take my time and stuff with it and come up with something better. And it was sanded and cleaned ALOT, I always make sure to do that kind of prep when I paint something

You dont use stencils :D You hand lay them out with pinstriping tape like this

I would keep the air lid black and do the flames in red, orange and yellow. Then outline them in turquoise. I wouldnt have the black down at the bottom either. Start with yellow at the very bottom then orange and red.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.. That's funny!! :D :D :D . No I just taped it upstairs here where the computer is. I had a pic of a mock-up I did in photoshop on the screen and was copying the design from there. If the darn printer hadnt gone on the blink then I woulda laid out the flames in another room ;)
