  • swap from 120 to 150 T/A gauges?

i was looking for indiglo gauges for my firebird, but all i can find is the gauge cluster for T/A's. so i got to thinkin that maybe i should swap my 120 speedometer cluster for a 150 cluster. can i recalibrate the speedometer so it would give me accurate readings on my speed? i know that the oil pressure gauge is different too, but im not too concerned about that one, and if it ever does become a problem, ill just get A-piller pods and get a new OP gauge for that. any help on this issue would be greatly appriciated. thanks! Rich

Are you sure the speedo wont be off? I heard its off by like 5-12mph.

Your speedo will be off more than that. 60mph is near Top dead center of the gauge. If you look on the 150mph speedo, 60 mph is like 1/3 the way up. The oil pressure and battery amps shouldn't be off, nor RPM's.....

well on the T/A cluster, 90MPH is at the top, and on the firebird, 80 is right at teh top.. so it wold be off by about 10 and increses in inaccuracy as sppeds went up

id actually want to go with the T/A gaiges insted, becasue the 120 speedometer is BS because ive had that needle pushed FAR past teh 125 line before, so i want to have a cluster that can display speeds that match what my car can do, especially since ill be adding a S/C soon!! I am 100% positive that it wont be off. I have done it before. Don't listen 2 what everyone else thinks all the guages will be right EXCEPT the tach and it can be fixed.

how could it not be off if my speedometer goes only up to 120, and i replace it with a speedometer that goes up to 150? it is definatley going to be off becasue all im replacing is the faces, im not replacing anthing electrical...

You can't do that those are overlays which means they need a piece behind them. Taking the needles off is a really BAD idea it will screw up all of your guages besides the fact it wont work.

There is only one way that your idea will work. That is if you have 3.08 gears and went to 3.42 gears. Then the speedo would line up with the 150mph.

I know this is an old post but I have the same question. I want a 150 mph Speedo in my car, is there a way to make it be accurate?
I want to install white face guages with a 150 speedo which I've seen online for my car but I want everything to work...........so my question is: Is it possible and what's involved?
