how the heck do i remove the middle mirror controls from the surrounding part i want to paint?

Sorry but I cant help ya out there :( I couldnt get mine out either but it may pry out with a flat tip screwdriver?? I didnt want to fool with mine too much so I left it alone.

Never mind i got it, it poped out really really easy actually. there are two little flaps kind, pop one out then stick a butter knife down the other side and it pops out like nothing. Later
