• What bulbs to use in the dash...

I want to replace all the bulbs in my dash, and i know someone just did theirs red and already one of the bulbs burned out. I was wondering what bulbs to use so that they dont burnout, lol. Thanks in advance.

If you want real good quality get some APC. They will look real good and shouldn't burn out but they are like $5 a pair? I got mine from autozone but they looked pink to me. And you run a risk of burning out. They still aren't too cheap when you figure you have to buy quite a few. I just took mine out the other day. If you want them their yours you just pay shipping. Other people have used the same bulbs and didn't look pink to them. Oh and another bonus to APC is they are tinted I think instead of coated which means they won't fade over time, these will.

APCs are POS bulbs!!! Don not get them! They fade rather quickly. If you want yours to last really red, then get the Japanese bulbs. Same size, 194. You can get them at local ricer shops. They are kinda more expensive, like $10 a pair though but well worth it.

I painted the clear bulbs red with Testors oil-based Enamel Hobby paint -- $0.97 at Wal-Mart --over a year ago, and they havn't faded at all. They were really dark blood red the first week and brightened up a little in the first week and then have stayed steady since then. They also stunk for a little while, but that's not a biggie.

In my old car, I got those cheap WalMart 194R bulbs and they faded to a faint pink within a month, and even when they were brand new, they werent half as bright red as my painted bulbs are.

If you do this, keep in mind you only want to paint the 7 that illuminate the dash... not the others that illuminate the turn signals, idiot lights, etc.

            Good luck!

When I did mine, i went to walmart and looked for some translucent red see through stuff. Found it on a bow (.033) And i spent 3 hours tapping 50million lights up with it. Worked pretty well. I just had a few squaks in it. Never really fixed them. I lost half my sockets in my dash board. Had to buy more and I lost them, lol. I bought some of the APC lights which I got for $2.50 and are a little more closer to somebody on budget. I think someone said they were $5.00 a pair? Price my vary. I didn't want to spend that much on this because there are like 20+ lights and that would be $100 bucks if they were 5.00/pair.
