• Pricing thoughts on my sister's stang.

Ok, my sis has a 99 stang, and the other night someone basicly stole her car to go get his g/f a dozen roses and wait outside her work and also used my sister's cell(stupid dumba$$, I hate em for that!) ne ways, it looks liked he backed into a ditch or something and cracked about an inch of the bumper and bent the tail pipe(now it sounds like a ricer, seriously!)

I'm trying to help her figure out what it should cost, I figure we can find a tail pipe off a recked stank and just replace it, and I was wondering if any of you know the price for a bumper? Also, will the crack split anymore? I ask because its really not all that bad, and just incase he doesn't pay or something, then she can probly leave it their. To me I think it won't split anymore, its pretty strong plastic, and judging by a few scratches around it, I'm suprised it didn't split more. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

btw, the crack was at the very bottom, going up about an inch.

first off, i would see to it that the crack in someone's skull made the bumper crack a minor blemish.

when my car got wrecked it required a repaint, realignment of the back quarter panels, and a new bumper. it was only $600. i'm sure you can find just a bumper for much cheaper.

FILE A POLICE REPORT. Even if you decide not to press charges, your/his insurance company has no proof and therefore no path of recourse for her. Even if its her word against his in the future, neither insurance company will pony up.

            Good luck.

He's pretty much what you call a trouble maker, I think he just got out of jail for drugs and other stuff.

The police already know about, he took my sister home acctually, and he said they can't do anything about it because the guy had her keys, she left them on a table at a friends house and fell asleep, and when he got back, after *****ing him out and all she went to her bestfriends house and called the police(dont ask me why she did all this).

Basicly, were looking around 1000 to 1300 for all of it? no muffler, its fine, the pipe just bent about half way between the muffler and the end of the pipe. Everything else on the car is fine, just the bumper and tail pipe is messed up.

your sister needs to call the police department back and ask to speak to a supervisor.

this wouldn't fall under theft because that is an intent to deprive the owner of their property, which he obviously didn't. this doesn't cover someone taking the keys and joyriding. that's why texas has this fine law called "UNAUTHORIZED USE OF VEHICLE". look it up. it covers exactly what you've described. if he took the car without her permission, keys or not, then that would fall under this category; especially if he damaged it, it shows he was on a reckless joyride. he can also be sued for the damages on top of having the state jail felony filed against him. whichever cop told you they couldn't do anything must have been in a hurry to go home because he/she most certainly can. if the guy was a local turd i would have been happy to pin a felony on him.

                    Here's a tip: POLICE DON'T "KNOW" ANYTHING

If it can't be documented, it didn't happen. Trust me. FILE A FREAKIN REPORT

No no... you misunderstood. I didn't mean to say that all, or any police officers don't know anything. I had no degrading intentions when writing my statement.

He stated in an earlier post that "the police already know about it." A rule of thumb that I learned in my short stint at law school is that the police (any law enforcement, really) don't know what isn't documented. That's why I put the word know in quotes.

It varies from state to state, and from precinct to precinct, but just knowing the who what where and when isn't enough. This girl needs to show intent to prosecute, or the insurance companies will try to rape her. (figuratively speaking of course) The more documentation the better.

P.S. I love law enforcement! They caught the bastard who stole my first car!

Alright, we got a estement from the local ford place and its $700 for everything, not to bad if you ask me. They do have to replace the bumper because the part that was halding the bottom part to the underside broke off and it needed to be replaced, I have some pics of the exhaust, their not great, but it was daylight and that camera sucks in the daytime!

If you want more, I can get some more, tomorrow I'll take some of the whole in the exhaust, she noticed this when she saw smoke comeing out from her tires in the back because it was right behind it and it was cold outside in the morning...ne ways, let me know if you wanna see more.

at least one of us does.

they will have the info, but like i said earlier, there is an offense for what happened to her car. i have filed that charge on several people.

my wife, then girlfriend, called to file a report on some damage to a car i had and the cop told her i had to be present since i was the owner of the car. i was 75 miles away at the time. i called the department and spoke to the patrol supervisor. needless to say, my report was filed over the phone, taken by the very apologetic officer who also returned to my wife's parent's house to also get a statement from her.

sadly, some cops get lazy the closer it gets to quitting time.
