  • question on paint for ttop bar thing

I don't know what to call it so I'll try and describe what I'm refering to.

The black weahter strip bar (metal) thats on T tops.... the one that gets superfaded and chalky looking from years in the sun.....

What is a good paint to freshin this puppy up? A good old can of rustoleum gloss black.

Maybe something a bit better? Your thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

    I'd take it off...

Then hit it with airlplaing stripper clean it down to the bare metal, then wash it really well, hit it with a scotchbright pad and repaint then hit it with a little clear afterwards.

    Maybe buff it out afterwares.

yep, thats on my list of things to do.

you can wal-mart rattle can that one with no problem. just grab one of the 3 dollar cans of gloss black and a can of clearcoat from the automotive section. if you sand down to the bare metal make surey you prime it first.

if you havnt done any painting before heres a sanding guide for you.

i probably woundnt even go through the trouble topcoat sanding/buffing that piece unless you're really hardcore.

Sounds like I'll just rattle can it for starters and then if it looks like crap I'll go all out.

I figured quite a few of us would have all ready takled this liitle project before. I'll post how it goes.

        Thanky Thanky
