  • Installing a Trans Am Spoiler on a Firebird

this is how my car looks now:

I would like to install one of the trans am spoilers on my firebird. Does anybody have any experience doing this?

How difficult is it to remove the stock spoiler and hatch? What are the steps involved? Will it sit flush on my firebird? Will the wire for the third brake light be compatible with the one from the trans am?

Just for reference the formula wing is the same as ours. You want the T/A wing.

Lots of people do it, but you need to replace the whole hatch. Since you car is black it shouldn't be too hard to find a black donor hatch. The only other thing you should need are the shocks from the Trans Am because the hatch is heavier and our shocks won't hold it open.

yeah, the installation isnt too hard, but your probably gonna need a second person to help you with the heavy hatch.

there is a post in the "modification review" section on how to do it with pictures, the guide worked well for me. here it is.

i love my ta hatch, definetaly worth it to me.

not sure how far the drive is for that, but it's in the general area of the US. There's also a fbody salvage yard with a lot of hatches on ebay in PA, I'm sure you can find something.

I put a TA hatch on mine and I had my wife help me and it was pretty simple just 4 bolts, take off the shocks and unplug a wire. It should take at most an hour. I got a really good deal on mine. I found a guy that was just going to throw away a Red (same color as my car) hatch and he gave it to me for $50 in absolutly perfect condition.

that is where i got that first picture from.. reason i wouldn't buy it though is this scratch on the wing...

try Billy Grahams Camaros, he's also got T/A parts and stuff too. i got front and rear sway bars for my car both for under $90. the web site is like www.billygrahamscamaros.com or something like that. i cant remember though. do you REALLY have to replace the whole hatch? i just replaced my stock spoiler with an SS spoiler. but i do drive a camaro though. lol one thing i've noticed about working on my car, everything is either easy or hard to work on.lol i hope i helped you man.

                come get some
