Just spent a good 3 hours claying my car and i'm still not completely finished.

I got the Mothers system thing. It came with the clay bar, instant detailer, and 4oz of some decent wax. No applicator pad.. All that for $17

I honestly wasnt impressed. For the time and money put into this, I couldnt really see that much of a difference. I could feel a huge difference, but no different than a good wax job. The instant detailer it came with didnt seem to want to come off. It just smeared everywhere. Very frustrating. Maybe it's just the color black being a pain in the *** to work with with all the smearing and spotting, but i'll probably never do this again.

wow i think claybar is like the best invention ever, it'll get just about anything off the paint r u sure your doing it right? I dunno i used clay magic though.

If I were you I would follow up the clay bar with the Meguiar's three-step system. I used to have a black '93 F-150. Paint was okay being the truck was owned by an Ohio farmer since it was new, but after I put 12 hours of clay bar and waxing into it, it was like new.

I don't really know what you expect...maybe there wasn't that much on the surface of your paint. All claying does is remove surface contaminants: it removes any dirt or grime that could possibly hurt the paint finish while waxing/buffing. It's not really meant to make the paint look that much better (on a car thats decent to begin with.) Claying just gets it a lot cleaner.

BTW, pretty much any quick detailer sucks in the cold: it won't dry and it hazes too much. Just use less and it will dry a little quicker.

I have used both the mother's and clay magic setups. They both do a good job and you can't tell a significant difference between the two. The point is basically to just clean everything off the paint. The wax that is supplied with the kit isn't anything to get excited about. Use a better wax and you will like the final results better.

wash the car down 1 or two times... claybaring sometimes leaves like a residue look to it.

it will look good then wax it up to protect it and fill in a few swirls...
