  • Rim Size

I'm looking at some aftermarket rims. What size is the norm for our cars to put on? 17" 18"? How wide? I don't want to break the bank. 17" C5 rims were not too expensive but I dont want the corvette logo centercap on a firebird. Suggestions?
How much are the low profile tires? Is that gonna kill me?

18's are max if you wanna drive for performance. I've always suggested tire rack. check out the SSR competition rims. They're lighter than the stock 16x8 rims by a pound each, while being 18x9.5. They cost about 485 per rim, but it's a quality rim. most cars with 9.5" rims run 255 skinniest up to 285 widest. your best bet for tire cost and width would be 275-35-18. Because you have a sc, you might wanna look at 285-35-18's too since you'll have a bit more rubber on the road for traction. I've got 3.42's/lsd, 3000 stall TC, and 255-50-16 tires and I light them up easily, even w/ lca's, sfc's, and lca relocation brackets.

please dont buy 16's. i dont understnad why people 'ungrade' to 16's when they already have 16's. just my opinion, so dont kill me for it. i just think if your gonna upgrade, get some 17's and some fat rubber and make that car look muscle!

i went for the 17/8.5 c5 rims. they look alsome! i also didn't want the vet center caps but the rims are just to nice. so if i see new center caps i'll buy them, but i just don't care anymore!

Really? I saw some of those on e-bay and was seriously thinking about it. I was wondering about the caps too. What's the tire size on those? I just might go that route

Jessica, if you can afford them, get 18x9.5's all the way around. You won't be sorry. 275's or 265's will be awesome on them.

when ithink muscle i think of theold 14 or 15 inch wheels. When i think of good looks i think of 18's.

I got18x9.5's all around and i love the way they look. Handlingis alot different then smaller and narrower.
