The most logical answer of course has been posted above. The car cover was made and packaged in 98 or 99. Since nobody knew what the Camaros would look like in 02 at that time, it only made sense to go up to the current model year at the time of packaging, which was 99. As luck would have it, the body styles stayed the same so it will fit the 02. This whole thing about it being Z28 specific is irrelevant, as your base model and Z28 both share the same body style. In fact, the SS shares the same body style as well except that the SS got a hood scoop and a slightly more curved rear wing. Seeing as how I have yet to see a car cover mold to the slight differences in this hood scoop and rear wing, I would say this cover applies to all 4th gen Camaros. Unless this cover also somehow molds to the engine as well but that's a ridiculous thought.

The person posting this auction probably just read the info off the tag and or the box, and is describing the cover exactly as the box states it to be.

Yep, this is true. I got a custom fit car cover from eBay a while back that said it was for 2000-2002 Z28 and I figured there wasn't any difference between that and my 6. What a surprise when I opened it and the logo on the hood said "ZL1 Supercar"

                      It fits great.
