• painting calipers, who sanded theirs?

i am getting ready to paint my calipers (gloss black) and i dont know if i want to sand them smooth, becuase they are textured a little. has anyone done it? and i am planning on using clearcoat, but do i need to use primer?

you need to rough surface for the paint to stick. just clean them good and have fun

i just did this on two cars haha.

all you need to do is get a wire brush and some "brakeleen" stuff at pepboys in a green can, its like two bucks. then use that and clean off the calipers to get all the break dust and whatnot so the paint can stick really good. then use about 3 or so coats of the black, and then 2 or so paints of clear, and youre set. allow about 30-45 minutes inbetween coats. good luck.

Put on Camaro decals from Brent Franker for a nice touch before you clear coat.

however unnecessary, you could because it wouldnt blast the caliper smooth.

I just cleaned and srubbed mine with a wire brush. If you put the decals on clear coat over them.

Quick question, should i mark my tires before taking them off, so i don't have to get them rebalance? I heard someone talking about this somewhere....

I'm thinking about doing this too, but I don't want to have my car jacked up and undrivable cuz I have to drive everyday to work and school. Does anyone know how much a spare set of calipers would run me new? That way I could take my time and make em look real good.

I put mine in a glass bead cabinet to clean then, then just used a couple coats of paint and they turned out like this:

They get dirty fast though... with my rims, its hard to clean the brake dust off them.

i have school and work everyday too and i was in this same perdicament. however, you can knock painting the calipers out in a few hours. and if you cant do all 4 at once, do two, then the second two the next day. thats what i did.
