  • Dust on the back bumper?

I had just finished washing my car last night, and I decided to go for a drive with it looking all nice and shiny.

Needless to say it's still pretty shiny, but, I've noticed, that in having a Firebird so far, dust accumulates on the back bumper above the exhaust pipes so badly, I'm sure shows more cuz I have a black Firebird, but I'm just wondering why I've never seen so much dust dirtying the back bumper of other cars, and is there any way to stop it from accumulating, as I'm tiring of dusting it off...

Well if you wax it REALLY good, its hard for the dust to stick.

But on an F-body, its just a way of life. The way the air flows over our cars puts the dust right there. Ever notice how quick your back bumper gets dull? Cuz in a sense it gets sandblasted with dust as you drive.

I clay bar'd mine, polished and waxed it up real good. Now every few washes I re-Wax the back bumper to keep it lookin good.

black? try haveing a white one!

when i first got my car it was allready pretty grainy on the top of the bumper. Then i had an accident and the back bumper got repainted. Since then ive waxed and waxed it. It looks as good as the day it was painted. I just make sure i clean the back off there really well every day.

They do get bad around the Houston area. Now that I am at school in the San Antonio area, I don't notice them as much. I remember during a parade in high school our new band trailer after a short trip downtown was almost black with them. When I go home to visit my parents, I see nothing but those bugs all over my car. They are a nuisance when they are out, but thank goodness they aren't a year-round thing.
