Have any of you that have bought non-gm hoods for your cars had a problem with the gap between fender and hoods? Do these hoods fit as well as factory, or are they slightly different, or are there marked differences in the gap from back to front?

i assum you are talking about the front bumper if nto ill cover both for ya
front bumper from my understanding usually has to be shimmed out to alow the hoods ( slp ho, and suncaost raptor) to lay correctly and fit flush. and on the sides they usually fit well or atleat the slp one did i havent seen any complaints of the sides being un even from the major companies liek slp suncoast and american sports car design keep in mind this is for firebirds camaro's could be a little diffent but probably not. the only reason i might pay the gm price woudl be if it was already painted if not go with an aftermarket. hope i helped

I got a factory hood, still don't fit that perfect,,,,surprisingly....the best way to get a factory hood is a hook up with someone that works for a salvage yard or body shop. Thats how I got mine. I got it for 1200 though, but at least it matches/fits and it's a functional hood with a nice curve to the scoop, unlike the a/m hoods.

How did it not fit perfectly, even if its a factory hood? Do you have uneven gaps between the hood and fender? Did you have to adjust the fenders or shim the bumper at all in order to get it to fit right?

sorry for the delay, been VERY busy with work....but yeah, don't know why but I had to slide the hood left and right to equal out the gaps on the sides. Now it's centered, but the gaps between the hood and fenders is noticeable if u look up close. and the front corners of the hood is not leveled with the corners of the fender. I was in a slight frontal collision, thats how I got the hood. Dunno how that could have affected the gaps. I got a new Fascia, SS hood, new headlights, new left parking light, new left fender. Upper tie bar was fine....

I don't have experience with putting on any Fbody hoods, but I put on several aftermarket hoods on cars where I work, a few GTPs and stuff. And man, makesure you really research what you get. I put this one on the other day and the hood was so out of shape I could practically stick my hand underneath it, because the gap was so big between the fender and hood. Theres not a whole lot you can do with that type of stuff. I would really look into getting a genuine hood.
Haven’t done anything on the Camaro, but put LEDs on my truck headlights . And my oil pressure sensor went out on the truck so going to fix that this...
