• Finally finished painting, Hugger Orange Interior

Well, it's taken me quite a while, and as some of you may know, it's not been a very easy process for me. I had a serious time getting that stupid cigarette lighter assembly apart. Man, I spent two days trying not to break it. Dad walks in the room, and the thing just fell apart. Problem solved. Then, the orange paint was costing me $16.95 per can, plus $9 for shipping, and $2 for each additional can. If that wasn't bad enough, I needed SEVERAL cans (first few coats were flat looking). Finally, I had to put it all back together without scratching anything. Well, the paint is now done. Next to go is the tan. Everybody let me know what ya think so far.
Here's a big version for those of you without dialup: Interior

And my site is being updated if ya wanna check out some more pics.

Thank you everyone for all the great compliments. I put alot of heart and soul into it. And of course, a whole lot of time. The tan will go eventually. Replacing it with black. Having the seats done in Hugger Orange velvet or velour (whatever the woman has at her shop) and wrapped in black leater. Having the seats redone should run me about $350-$450. The rest of the interior, hopefully will come from ebay, or a wrecked local car. Whatever I take out of mine, I will put on ebay, or here, but it wont be any time soon. $$$$ Tires are my next purchase, and I'm lookin at $385 from tirerack.com.

I really like the work that you've done. It looks like you worked hard. BUT.....are you afraid that it will look very much like the "great pumpkin" or "halloween-ish" after all the black and orange? Have you maybe considered white leather/trim? Either way, you did a really good job.

Thank you. I'm glad you guys can appreciate the work that I've been putting into it. The console was out of the car 2 months until I was finally satisfied with it. To the halloween comment, I dunno yet. My birthday is October 29, so I'm pretty much a halloween kid anyways, lol. I dunno, I do think that it might be too much orange, but I can't really know for sure till I can see it. I have a pic of Hugger Orange houdsthooth wrapped in black leather. I may try to photoshop it and see how it looks. The seats wont be covered with that much orange, just the inserts. Who knows, I may end up going with black leather from a TA or something.

Still haven't decided on white or black I've been leaning toward black since I got the car. I've never been a fan of white leather anyway. I have a hard time keeping things clean. Oh well. Anybody have any other sugguestions? What about the door panels? Swap from a wreck?

                        Looks good!!

Where did you get the paint? I saw some paint at J. C. Whitney that cost what you mentioned. Is that where you got it? I was considering that paint for my interior but if it takes a lot of coats with that paint I don't want to buy it.

I ordered the paint from Classic Industries. They have everything when it comes to restoration. So I got some vinyl spray dye for restoring a 69 Hugger Orange Camaro. It's expensive, and takes about 3 coats before it gets glossy. Then I just got Krylon clear coat, gloss black, and primer. I spent way too much on paint alone. I've got $125 in the orange cause I've done it so much trying to get it right. That console is where most of the detail went. Look around the shifter and the gear selection plate thingy, and the cupholder. Lots of detail there, some black vinyl pinstripes finally solved the problem. Once the pin stripes set a couple days without peeling, I cleaned the surface again, and cleared it with 4 coats.
