  • ground effects adhesive tape.........

Anybody know what I can get this from? website or local stores? Over the harsh winter we had water leaked in over my front bumper ground effects. So I have pieces of the double sided tape on both the inside of the ground effects panel and the outside of the car. I need to replace the double sided tape and fine a product to remove whats left of the old one. Thanks

Wal-Mart. In the auto dept. They cary 3-M double sided tape. Its very heavy duty. Its by the spray paint & auto body products. Also they cary a good bug & tar remover that gets rid of the old sticky stuff.

yes, but make sure its the heavy duty stuff. dont just ask for 3m double sided tape, or youll probably end up with the 2 lb stuff you can hang posters with.

the stuff is expensive if i remember correctly. for a large roll it was like 15 or maybe even 20 bucks.

a much better bet than walmart would be a small shop that specializes in auto paints.

I never heard of anybody using glue on a ground effect Nbajwill. Thanks for the info guys. I found the heavy duty stuff that you were talking about 18.95 for it. Couldn't find the bug and tar remover though. I did see goo gone but wasn't sure if it would work. Also how long till it holds tight? instant bond? or do you push the ground effect and hold it for a few minutes.

yep, like i said. not cheap.

the tape will hold pretty much instantly. just hold it strongly in place there for a few seconds and let go. im sure you know you need screw on the ends of the gfx.

What I found works VERY well for adhering things like trim pieces is clear silicone caulk. It's waterproof, lets you position your piece because it takes time to set, and is a very strong adhesive. But if you really have to, you can still take the piece off down the road. Just use masking tape to hold the piece in place until the caulk sets.

I would recommend using the tape on a really warm day or in a heated garage. That stuff doesn't seem to stick(bond) as good when it's cold
