I've been curious lately about how to polish aluminum. From what I understand it basically just takes time a dremel and a couple other things. I have time and a dremel so I thought I would look into the rest. So does anyone know what polishing involves? or what can be polished under the hood?

"AC System - Polish your AC accumulator [It is the round/octagon shaped thing on the passenger side of the engine], it's aluminum. Use some "000" Steel Wool and some aluminum polish until it's shiny, then use a rag and some more aluminum polish to finish it up. Pretty soon it will shine right up! Best of all it costs almost nothing to do."
I got this from LS1 Camaro
Just go to the appearance section and click on 'Engine bay dress-up'
I'm gonna give it a try this weekend, I'll post some before/after pics.94 Firebird, 3.4 V6, Red, M5
SLP CAI, Accel 8mm Superstock Wires, Bosch Platinum +4 Plugs, Borla Exhaust, BMR Strut Tower Brace, 180* Thermostat, B&M Ripper Shifter
http://www.cardomain.com/id/94bird

What tip did you use on your dremel? So basically just go get some aluminum polish and start working at things that are aluminum? If anyone has any pics or knows of any they should post them. I think when ever I get spare time I'll just go find something aluminum and polish it. Eventually maybe I'll have everything polished. But it oxidizes like someone mentioned. Anyone know about how long it lasts?
Oh and those engine bays look NICE!!!! Made me run out to my car and pop the hood. Anyone know where to get colored bolts like that last T/A? Ok I'm gonna have to start an underhood detailing post here in a while, I've always wanted under my hood to look nice.

Anyone notice how the foglight openings on that red Z28 off the LS1 forum appear to be "stretched" a little?? It looks like the whole front of that car has been slightly tweaked with the Xenon GFX..... not to mention the GFX are practically a part of the car and not just "hanging" off of it. Go to the appearance section off that link listed above and scroll to the bottom to check it out!
Now I don't know about everyone else, but when I clean my engine bay, there is a nice dirt build up within a couple weeks. It also rains 9-10 months out of the year here... but still... does anyone else have this problem?1994 Camaro 3.4L M5 R.I.P.
You know what they say- a small engine means big... errr... e/t\'s
www.pbase.com/rrj72/the_accident
replaced with: red 97 A4 vert (my brothers as soon as i find my REAL replacement)
soon to come: 1969 RS/SS
\"All you need are the esentials: scented candles, massage oil, and Berry White write that down.\" -Van Wilder
