  • I need help on How to improve my 3.4 v6

    I own a 3.4 v6 firebird i have a k&n cai, i would like to know on how to improve to get atleast a little over 300 hp, I'm thinking on swaping the engine to a ls1 or ls6 but a few of my friends said that im better off bored the head and drop a **** of performance upgrades but me personally dont know what to do any help or advice would be appreciated. Spend the money on a used engine or upgrade the parts? :twak:

    If you can put an LS1 in it, go for it.

      wrong forum.

      the only way youre going to see 300rwhp out of a 3.4 is with alot of money. turbo would be the best bet. 3.4s have almost zero aftermarket parts outside of the normal bolt ons.

      www.supersixmotorsports.com has a head and cam package available but it seems pretty pricey to me.

      it takes a hardcore enthusiast to build up a 3.4. i was going to but got too damn frustrated with trying to find parts and doing research. there are a few guys like tiago,russel,and josh(viper98885) who have put together pretty good 3.4 motors. but to my knowledge tiagos car is the only one over 300rwhp.

      your best bet is to build yourself a nice turbo kit or find a FFF kit. or swap a 3.8 and go from there.

      keep in mind ls1s cost a **** load and then you have alot of other things that have to be done also.(suspension,kmember,pcm,tranny,rear end,motor mounts,etc.)

      current car- 95 Trans am- bolt ons, parked and collecting dust. why? because **** it

        like i stated before i dont know what to do i have around 10g to spend, i found a ls1 for 3500 with the tranny, ecm, wire harness, kbar. I have a friend who owns a shop with a hydraulic lift and a gave him a 1995 ninja zx900 for free in exchange for all the work thats gonna be done to my car i believe is a fair trade.

          Why are messing around with a v6 if you have 10g's to blow? Go get a v8, you'd be crazy not to.

              Search around on this borad. You can find some good information for building up a 3.4 (which is what I am doing). If you have the money to spend, pull the motor out and do it up. New P&P heads, cam, bore it .030, new pistons, etc. After that, toss a turbo on top. 300+ HP is attainable. Also get some new gears in that thing.

                  i dunno i havent seen ben around in a while. last i heard from him he had just got everything together and installed his megasquirt.

                  current car- 95 Trans am- bolt ons, parked and collecting dust. why? because **** it
