unless you've got a lot of aftermarket goodies under the hood with electric parts (jetscu, maft, etc... ) you should be fine spraying it down engine degreaser on it and then trickling water over it, then its all about the details. i use fantastic to detail the block and other dirty/greasy parts under the hood. you just got to work it into the corners. if youre a real nut like me, wax the paint under the hood, and get a bottle of cd2 engine detailer. dont forget to hit the plastic and rubber with some sort of armour all. i even found a few places on my engine where no matter what i did i couldnt get the dirt off, so i actually lightly sanded those places down, since they were few and far between, and they look close to new again.
