i think i want to get a neon underbody kit, but i wanted to know how hard it is to install. do i need any electronics hardware, like soldering kits or anything? i've never done any wiring before. would this be something better left to be professionally installed? thanks.

"pros" to sintall underbodies? LoL
theres nothing even complicated about it...
a couple tips I would do
Trash the wireing they give u, find some speaker wire with THICK insulation(spelling?)around it. less chance of some of the wire under the car geting spliced open from a rock
another , fuse each wire inside the car where ever you have the main power point going to... that way instead of one fuse blowing and you not know which one is messed up, you know exactly which one is....
Just me, but I wouldnt put them on at all, its just ricey... but I have installed them on a few cars

I have a neon kit for mine on the way. I'm going for things on the car that make it stand out when it is being driven while giving it that stock look when it is parked. I think that a properly installed neon kit looks good on a car.

Oye, now there's a neon thread on three of the four boards I visit.. and each one has some flamer claiming it's rice.
Big Tymer's tips (as far as wiring it goes) are pretty good tips to do. Make sure the tubes don't show, and it should be good.1994 Camaro 3.4L v6<br /><a href=\"http://www.meissenation.com\" target=\"_blank\">Meissenation.com - Beg for it</a> - <a href=\"http://www.redalertv6.com/\" target=\"_blank\">\"Red Alert\"</a> - <a href=\"http://carpc.meissenation.com/\" target=\"_blank\">Project CarPC</a><br /><br /><a href=\"http://www.mifbody.com/\" target=\"_blank\">The Michigan FBody Association</a>

its not very hard at all to install. it virtually impossible to get them to not show without a body kit.
on thing is they are easy to crack. if you get neon tubes if you crack them there done. if you get leds you can fix it as long as you didnt rip the whole damn thing apart. but led's arent quite as bright. i personally prefer leds though.

awesome, thanks for the replies. its good to know they are easy to install. i was thinking i might need to put a body kit on so you can't see the lights, but i wasn't sure. i don't really have money for a body kit. actually, i don't really like any body kits for 95 birds. oh well, looks like this isn't happening soon.i\'m not an ambiturner.

you can do it and still hide it pretty good. you cant see the led tubes under the car like neons. i have pics of mine on my car domain.<a href=\"http://cardomain.com/id/articacid\" target=\"_blank\">2002 35th Anniv. Keep checking. Due to time constraints there are a lot of modifications that I have the parts for but haven't had time to put on. I'm fixing to dedicate roughly a week to get them all done. Neon is one of those goals. I don't have a body kit on my Camaro so I will let you know if it is possible to mount them and not have them show.
I was able to hook them up last night to a test 12V power source and the wiring part is VERY easy. Under the car I will probably run some conduit to protect the wires, but changing the gauge of them seems like overkill. The tubes are sealed (the neon is actually mounted inside a clear plastic shell and have end caps that are glued to make a seal) which would mean that all the splicing involved with changing the gauge would have to take place outside the tube. This means heat shrink, which would leave that area vulnerable to rocks, etc. and then water if the heat shrinking gets damaged. My personal feelings on installation? Protect the wires- yes. Change them, no. But that's just my opinion.

I installed them by myself about 6 months ago and on my firebird there were like little pockets on the side that I mounted my tubes up in. And the front was easy to mount. But the back i had some trouble keeping to tube away from my exhaust. But i just moved the foward alittle. It only took me about 2-2 1/2 hours to insatll and wire it all,
