  • exhaust tip and body kit opinions

ohk well i've gotten most of my appearance mods handled with the exception for the side marker and third brake light overlays. but there is also the matter of exhaust tips i need to handle. i can't figure what style i'm looking for. should i even get any for my car? the turn downs are hidden nicely under the bumper but i can't help but think that some polished z tips or some SLP dual slash cut tips would look freakin awesome! so what do the people on here think? (use the pics on my cardomain if you need to --> page 5)

and i also just revamped my entire cardomain site so its all new and updated! please check it out, let me know what you think either here or sign the guestbook and let me know! i'd really like opinions on it and what else i should to do to it. the most recent pics are on page 5 but i have pics from the start and pics as the car has progressed. so check it out and let me know what yall think!

EDIT :: check down towards the bottom (the 13th post i think) for pics of tips and two body kits i'm tryin to choose from.

Check out my cardomain site in my sig to see how the Borla Quad tips look. Personally, I love them.

quick suggestion on your site, the text is very hard to read on page 1 where the text goes over your car. White on white..not so good for reading.

well its either white, red, black, or blue and the one that showed up the best was teh white...i'm thinking about cahnging the phoenix background color so maybe that will help and i can change the text color. i was thinking the same thing you were: hard to read. i'm tryin to fix that so thanx for the heads up.

as for teh tips i dunno if i like the borla tips cause tehy are kinda squared off more than the SLP. i love the borla tips of firebirds though...actually thats prolly what i would get if mine was a bird but, depending on price, i've definitely decided to go with either z tips or the SLP dual slash cut ones. btw...dmw, where did you et your tips?

finally, thanks for the comment. after exhaust tips i'm not really planning any more exterior mods cause i don't want it to be gawdy or flashy or anything. just want some smooth sleek lines that flow with the car and a color scheme that keeps up with the lines. i think i've done what i wanted. once it get repainted white in a few years (hopefully) it'll look better than it is now!

i love those tips! but i'm still a little skeptical ab pricing. where can i find those? i checked lmperformance and it would cost me like over $200 without the gfx painted and without install as well. i guess maybe it would be worth it though. not sure...

I personally am not a big fan of dual tips out the center, or any exhaust outlet mounted in the center for that matter. Granted, like everything else they aren't for everybody but I like to have mine like the traditional dual exhaust (spaced apart and straight out the back).

I know that our cars traditionally have a single pipe to the muffler, but this style makes me think at first glance like a dual outlet tip was stuck on a single exhaust pipe. At least the traditional dual exhaust gives some hint of there being two pipes. When I first saw the design on the Porsches I thought it was pretty tacky but I'm not going to apply that opinion to the car pictured above because time was obviously invested to do it, and for the look it was trying to achieve it was done well.

I also don't like the quad tips on a dual exhaust. Pretty much after the muffler, adding more outlets to each pipe doesn't help with flow and there is no illusion to pull off unless there is some engine out there I am not aware of with quad headers.

No personal attacks intended, just a statement of my opinion. If you invested hard work and/or money into your system you deserve the credit for doing so because I respect different tastes in style. Now, if you hang your system with coat hanger wire and it bounces around because you just wanted to slap something on there without thought I may have something to say directly. But my above statements have been and always will be my personal taste in style.

thanks for all the suggestions guys and btw the pics i've seen look good too. i've kinda gotten things rounded down to a few actual tips instead of just general descriptions.

These are all the exhaust tips i've found that i might like on my car:

                            "Low Profile Z28" Style Tips
Z28 Style Tips (not necessarily these but just the Z28 style)
                            Slash Cut Tip - Short
                            Slash Cut Tip - Exteneded
                            Center Exhaust Tips
MOMO Dual Round Tips (not necessarily these just some like them)
                            SLP Dual Slash Cut Tips

imo i like the center exhaust look with the rear gfx piece but i also like the LP Z28 tips and the regular Z28 tips as well. and the SLP and dual round(like the MOMO) i like too. i've seen so many straight single outlet slash cut tips that i don't know if i like those or not. so i guess its really between those 5 i mentioned.

and here are two body kits i found online. never seen this first before and was wondering what everyone thought of it:

                            DGM
                            Xenon

i'm a huge fan of the Xenon bc i don't think its too flashy and i think it flows well with the car, but that DGM i saw while i was looking around. found it for a good price and it doesn't look too bad. its growing on me i guess. so what yall think ab tips from those pics? and what ab a body kit (yes or no / if yes, which one)?
