  • Wanna remove my moldings BUT...

I am scared that my paint will be faded underneath. Its a 98, silver... I mean it would make it so much easier to wash and wax but I am currently thinking of taking off the door molding but NOT the FIREBIRD text. The firebird text is more of a PITA to clean but I like it... the door molding strip is useless, its too low (and the upper part of the door sticks out further) and i always park a mile away or take up two spots.

I guess I am just a little scared it might show an outline or something since my car is a 98 and always in the sun. If i take it off, I can always put it back on, correct????

Took mine off... 98 Chameleon. Paint not faded.

As far as putting it back on.... no you can't. You would need to buy a whole new set of the moulding. When you peel it off it stretches and distorts the paint on it.

Hmm... I've never seen any without the moldings. Can somebody post a link or a pic with a firebird without it?

i just took my door molding two weeks ago. mine didn't leave an outline. it looks so much better and really cleans up the lines on the car. i don't have any pics yet. i had my firebird letters taken off years ago when i put on my ram air hood. that also looks much better w/o them.

No... unfortunately it curls like 2ft long fingernails.

I would put something on top of them to keep them from curling while waiting. It probably doesn't happen right away.

I took mine off. I have a 99, no paint fading whatsoever.
