If you do end up painting them yourself, leave the lip around the edge silver. :D I love my black wheels\'99 SSM Camaro V6 M5
(mod list on cardomain site; too long to list here)
http://www.cardomain.com/id/v6cam99

I painted my own Black ZR1s. I used automotive paint.. I went to the local paint place that sells automotive paints for body shops and stuff and asked if they sold paint in Rattle can form. I got some Universal Black Metallic. I bought 4 cans of Automotive black primer, 4 cans of Universal Metallic black, and 4 cans of Automotive Clear.
Started out by taping off the lip and stripping the clear off the lip/edge. then polished that lip up real good. Taped off the now polished lip. Then sanded down the painted surfaces with some 400 grit, to remove any scratches and scuffs. Put down a whole can of primer.. about 4 good coats. then let that dry, sanded with some 800 grit. then went to the color. Another whole can, letting it sit about 20 minutes between coats. After the color was on, I baked my wheel in the oven for about 30 minutes at 200 degrees... Then wet sanded them with some 2000 grit paper. Then 3 coats of clear over the whole wheel including the lip that was taped off while the color was painted. Baked that in the oven too. I didnt wet sand the clear so it would have a bit of orangepeely look like factory. It took me about a day per wheel, painting the spokes and behind the wheel all the way around the inside... I have some pics up on my site www.hammerlaneperformance.50megs.com
