• W68 Firebird Ground Effects--Home Made Replica Project

I am working on a design to duplicate the w68 ground effects for a lot cheaper that new. But I need some help. I am looking for as many pictures measurements and anything you have to say about the w68 front ground effects.

So for my idea is to use carving foam to make a replica of the front two pieces. Plus a little more personal style. Then use a low temp plastic and a heat gun to make a plastic version of the peice, then reinforce the back with fiberglass. So far my expecte materials for the front is only about 75 bucks, unpainted. But I have yet to bargain shop.

Thanks everyone for the pics. I am going to start on a scale prototype this weekend, I just gotta get through these damn mid-terms.

I have a sample of the materials, and I am going to see if the material reacts and conforms as I predict.

I have cardboard templates made for the front ground effects, as well as sketches off them completed.

I just need to find some material to shape the prototype out of. My foam idea, didn't work, it wouldn't hold up to the temp of the heat gun.
I am glad I didn't burn the garage down.

Now I am thinking about creating it in the same fasion, as one would shape a surfboard. I think the fiberglass should hold up to the heatgun. Back to the labratory I go
