They are not hard taking them off but unless you are going to change your pads I wouldnt bother. If you just want to paint your calipers take an old t-shirt and cover what part of your rotrs that your caliper is not covering. Then paint away.\'94 Black Firebird
3.4 Auto :(
Big Block hood
17\" x 9 1/2\" Torq Thrust II rims
P245/55 Z-Rated Nitto tires
Custom interior paint.
Custom Air intake with heat shield
Magnaflow cat-back Exhaust System
Eibach Sportline lowering springs
www.realproexhaust.com/other/cootees.htm

This is wrong if you want to do a good job. You need to at least unbolt the calipers from their brackets in order to clean them well enough to paint on. Brake cleaner alone will NOT take off everything and you need to go over the metal with acetone to get that last bit of grease off. Painting with the caliper still attached will restrict access to parts of the metal and you will not be able to clean or paint them well. If you're going to take the time to do this, take the time to do it right. And please, don't paint the brake pads, I've seen so many people do that and it looks horrible.
Here are my brakes.
That is what you can do if you take your time and do it right. GOod luck :D

only two bolts hold the calipers on...it takes a 15mm wrench and they arent super tight, atleast they werent on mine...Black 1998 Pontiac Firebird A-4 swap
271.4rwhp/259.4rwtq NA
13.30@102.44
www.freewebs.com/wickedsix98

Personally I disagree. I didn't take my calipers off to paint them, and they look just as good as anyone's who took them off. I used some spray degreaser to clean them off, and that alone worked just fine and my paint is still in perfect condition (minus damn brake dust! ). It took me some time to mask the area's off perfectly, but in the end you can't tell the difference.Kyle M
--------------
2002 Trans Am WS6 (silver, A4) - lid, cutout, stage 3 shift kit, 12 bolt, vig 3200, tranny cooler, bmr sfc/stb, torq thrust ii. 12.688 @ 106.47mph -=- 1.756 60\'
