  • Getting the rims clean

Alright, I'm getting really pissed off here. Today, I washed, waxed, and detailed my car. It looks awesome, except for my rims. I've got the stock rims, aluminum I believe. Anyways, I got spray to put on them, I've tried scrubbing them, and nothing works. It seems like they've got brake dust really baked onto them. Is there any type of compound or spray that I could use to get my rims looking nice and shiny again?

Greased Lightnening Orange Blast. Spray it on, scrub a bit with a brush, then rinse off. There are a lot of posts about cleaning rims so you'll have plenty of information if you choose to do a search. Good luck!

if you have a clay bar, it will take a while but use it and it will take you probable about 30 minute or less depending how bad it is but it comes off. you should have a clay bar anyway to clean your paint befor you waxx. make sure you wax after you clay them though other wise it will build right back up. clay bar wont hurt the finish at all either if you follow the instructions and the blue magic kit sells for like 10 bucks at auto zone. good luck. -nick-

If it wont come off with soap and water, you need a mild paint abraisive like a polishing compound. Wheel cleaners = BAD

Use Wesley's Bleach-white (I think that's the name of it). It's for cleaning the white walls or lettering on tires. Spray it all over your rims, and use a tooth brush to scrub it in. Then just wash it off with a hose. It works great...I use it on my Aluminum Camaro rims, and my dad uses it on his crome Vette rims. No Problems!!

Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll be sure to try them all! Hopefully something will work...That Bleche White stuff I've used before on my tires, it's an acid so I was never sure if it would strip the finish on the rims...but if it has been used before maybe I'll give it a shot.

Yeah I had the same prb. but I just took of all four wheels and cleaned them with a brillo pad with soap very carefully. Then from there I just spray them of when I wash my car every sat. with some rim cleaner I got from auto zone.
