Out with brushes, except on wheels and tires. As far as chemicals go.. I prefer all Eagle One. Eagle One Wet Car Wash, Egle One Wet Look Wax, Eagle One Wet Wipe & Shine polish, Eagle One Aluminum Wheel Cleaner, Eagle One Aluminum Wheel Polish, Eagle One 20/20 Glass Cleaner... Oh.. I use Black Magics Tire Wet. (Never tried Eagle Ones)

As far as waxing goes... I never use a buffer. I always do it by hand. I'm sure buffer is just as good but I know if I do it I will end up getting carried away and start missing spots.

One great tip I learned in the chevy detail shop, after you dry the car use a rag and wipe out the door jams, it dries them and uses the water in there to clean it out. Doing that in the hatch is a good idea too because then theres less water draining onto your bumper. I still haven't found a way around the bumper ending up filthy. I always stick the hose inside every wheel well and spray everything real good to help prevent future rust and spray off the undercarriage every now and then.

I find the eagles wet shine likes to fly off the wheel and cover my car in black stuff. I used to use meguires tire gel but ran out and I'm waiting to run out of the tire tint I have (which I don't think is bad like everyone else) I'm not very brand loyal but tend to use meguires wax cause it looks great. If you have anything stuck to your car I recommend getting some laquer thinner (sp?) I don't have any but thats what we used in the shop and it works great.

Oh yeah no one has mentioned Clay bar yet. DO IT!! Your paint will have never looked better. I used a little meguires kit and I can still see the effects of it months after I did it.

go to discount auto parts and get some shop paper towels, the blue ones that come in a roll the size of normal paper towels and are wrapped in plastic. these things are great for everything, especially glass - they have no lint.

I use the absorber to dry my car. No water spots at all. I dry everything with it, including my chrome rims, door jams, the inside of the hatch (where all the dust builds up) and inside tire wells. This thing does it all!

Tires: Wesley's Bleach White (spray bottle) - gets all the nasty crap right off those tires. (4.99)

Rims: depends on what kind you have...

                      Wash:
Mother's Car Wash - you only need a small drop and it makes ton of bubbles ;) ($5.99)

The Absorber - reusable, and you dont have to throw it in the dryer like normal towels. ($10)

                      Detailing:
Maguire's Gold Class - not too expensive....but its worth it. ($10)

Mother's Claybar - cleans the paint of any contaminants. Do this b4 you wax.

Interior: Armor All Leather Wipes - yes, leather wipes...these work great for your dash and all other plastic parts. hell you can even use them for your leather seats ;) ($3.99)

Tailpipes: Eagle One wadding polish - smells bad but shines chrome or stainless great.

Tire Shine: BlueMagik - silicon based spray...shines like no other. Hard to find though. ($6.99)

I am pretty stuck to those brands...all of em' work great for my car.

For drying the car try the water blade quick *** hell doesn't scratch just need a 100% cotton towel for the spots you can't reach or the absorber.
