  • Door handle lights

I have a 94 camaro and my friend has a 2002 Z28. His door handle frame has the little hole and when the lights are on there is a little light shining through the hole. My car has the same hole but no light. Is it supposed to be this way??

im not very familiar with the camaro interior but i know they are someaht similar to a firebird.

in my car there is one screw behind the door handle take it out under pull the lock part off (put in the lock positon and pull the frame part out from the door panel a little shoudl see a metal rod behind just pry it out but me careful not to bend it) once the lock peice is out just slide it off of the handle and there should be a wire going into the top twist it counter clockwise i think and it should come out it is a very tiny bulb. im not sure how similar the interior is but that should point you in the right direction oh and take the door lock and window switch panel off first it just pops off. hope that helps you

Yeah it is pretty similar to what blackbyrd said. I have a '01 camaro so I am not to familiar with the '94 interior but I just removed all of my stuff so I can try to direct you to replace your lights.

First there are two screws to remove the first is behind the door handle and the second is located underneath the door lock switch panel you will see it. Once those are off, just pry the whole backplate off carefully there are two tabs that hold it in place.

If all you are going to do is replace the door bulbs I don't think you need to take out the door lock. You should be able to reach in the back and twist out the light which is located up by the door and window switches. There is only one light bulb in mine. Those are your standard accessory light bulbs you can pick up at any auto parts store.

Just a tip, once you put in the bulb check to make sure it works before you close it all up, learned that one from experience!

when I had my 93 bird, I noticed those holes too and wondered what they were for. I was never in any other f-body so it wasn't until I got my '02 bird (which had the lights) did I realize what those holes were for. So basically I drove around for 10 years w/o even knowing that there were supposed to be lights in the door handles. I feel cheated!

Blackbyrd is exactly right. I have taken my door panels off 100 times trying to deaden the sound =)

yeah both my bulbs went out within this past year. I tried pulling or twisting that little bulb off but no luck, anyone know if I should force it or something, whats the correct way to take them off.
                  I have a 96 bird BTW.

turn to the left and pull. That's how I do it.
