I think claybar is the best thing since sliced bread. You know all those little black spots on your car, or those hard to remove bug stains? Those will all disappear with the claybar. Its definitly worth the time to do it.KevinC
1999 Silver SS Vert
K&N Filter, MTI Carbon Fiber Lib, GMAF, HPP3, APC Clear Corner Turn-Signals, Zaino, Mobil 1
SOLD -Y2K Y87 Bright Red Camaro
Mods: B&B TriFlow Quad Cat-Back, Whisper Lid, Free Ram Air, BMR Strut Tower Brace, Raised Lid, Red/Black Pedals, Red Wire Loom, Reflective Concepts Rear Letter Fill-in, Zaino, Red Calipers with brushed Camaro decals; Mobil 1 Synths, Tinted Windows,CamaroV6.com Mod,

I want to know this too!
Does the wax have to be "stripped" first?
Even after washing it 3 times in a row, parts of it still look dingy.\'98 A4 Camaro v6->v8 conversion, and STS kit next
v6: 13.6 Powerdyne, 13.2 150 shot, 13.8 120 shot, 14.3 85 shot, 15.7 stock
v8(na): 12.18@113, 392rwhp
Moderator on www.mtfba.org and www.frrax.com (Road Race & Autocross)
Car pics, TN Region SCCA

I would do the clay on a white car. I just finished a white car that had sat on the dealer lot for a while. Tons of small specks, from the air and probably rail dust as well. Stuff you can't see from a distance but can see when you get up close. The clay removed all of them and left a glass smooth surface to work with. You will have better looking results from your wax/polish of choice if you start with the smoothest surface possible, and clay is a great way to do that. You should be able to find the Mother's bar at most auto parts places. I use zaino polish products but have had good luck with the mothers clay so I keep using it.
As far as washing it, I would wash with Dawn once to remove as much from the car as possible. If your car looks dingy, like there is still dirt on it, is it embedded in the paint or just sitting on it? I have yet to see one of those wand wash places get a car clean, hand washing is the best solution. A good wash should remove all that is necessary and you should be ready to clay the car.
