  • Help with spoiler question please

Ok, my friend is trying to buy a high rise spoiler (like on the newer TA's) off ebay. He has a '95 TA and needs to know if the spoiler itself will fit right with his stock hatch (which is like my v6 hatch/spoiler), or does he need to replace the entire hatch for the spoiler to fit right?

It should be noted that this T/A has the Firebird rear deck...just like ours. Brian...he will have to change the whole rear hatch.

OK I got all my parts brand new from GM and there are two different hatches...if you take the light out of the firebird hatch you can see it's one piece and mostly hollow if I remember right. The T/A hatch is practically one downward sloping piece that the separate high profile spoiler bolts onto. Oh and about the weight issue...I think the spoiler makes it a little heavier, but really the heaviest piece on the whole hatch is the glass. Maybe about 40+ lbs alone. My firebird hatch (which is sitting here in the garage unused) is virtually weightless without the glass. You can pick the whole piece up with one hand easy. BTW...he will need a different 3rd brake light. The firebird light wont fit in the new spoiler and a brand new 3rd brake light for the T/A spoiler was around $150 or so, so he might make out cheaper finding a wrecked car and taking one from it.
