Here's something I've always wondered, how come if you get chrome tips, they will rust on you right away.....but if you get chrome rims they never rust(or at least I've never seen rusted rims)? Is it because a different type of chrome is used?

Exhaust tips rust because the heat expands pockets in the surface of the metal and Carbon from the exhaust gas will attach to these open "pores" and if you don't clean them, it starts oxidizing and the metal compound starts to rust....I think this is how it goesComment

Exhaust tips are chromed steel or stainless steel...
Wheels are chromed ALUMINUM

I have mine for a long time now and theyve never rusted. I just scrub em with soap and water.
