  • Question about paint on air dam under the car.

Today I was under the front of my car to get an idea for how to install my fog lights, and I noticed on the flat piece of plastic that helps push air up to the radiator, looked like it had gotten the same color paint as my car on it, and that most of it has chiped off. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this, it concerns me because I'm afriad my car might have been in a wreck or something that they had to paint the front. Its also strange to me that from the side mirrors and up, it seems like the paint is more shiner like its newer paint, my car is a 97, and I found out that the place I got it from has had a few cars on their lot that have been fixed up to sell, they've had a 97 trans am for sell for about a year now and I found out that its been in a wreck and a flood and they are trying to sell it for about $11,000. If anyone has any idea why I have paint on that part under the car, let me know, I also realize that it might have been like that from the factory. Thanks!

If you have overspray on your airdam then I would guess that some work has been done to it. It could have just been repainted or had some major body work done. Try a Carfax report. The body panels of the car are painted seperately at the factory.
