• Drum brakes painted or not?

I want to paint my dul looking drum brakes on the back two wheels, anybody seen this or have pictures? I wanna know if it would look good, I have a 97 red firebird, so do you think red would go well with it? Thanks

I have a 97 bird with drums also and I've wondered this many times.
Anyone done it?
I think I would go with flat black on my drums.
I don't know if silver would work on my bird.
Red on yours.... I just dunno?

a guy i know did it to his red camaro. painted front calipers and rear drums red. i didn't really like the look of it personally. for some reason the drums came out looking really dull red, the calipers were much brighter red, so it looked crapy. maybe he just did a bad job, i'm not sure.

I agree with whiteshark, there is a guy running around in a V6 Camaro around here and he has his drums/calipers painted bright red. They're ugly.....

That convinced me, so maybe I should do black? I'm not worried about being colorful, just that rust look is so bad. Anybody agree with black drums on a red car?

I've painted the drums and calipers on my bird. The calipers get dirty quick from the brake dust but the drums look great and mine are painted red.

I did mine in black. Mainly to hide the hideous rust and dull color of the stock paint.

I have seen a lot of imports lately with their drums painted red, yellow, etc and I think taht it looks horrible. It's a big mess of color in there. I would suggest the idea to paint themn black...I think that would look great, but it would't be too much.

I painted my drums in a flat black along with my wheel wells. It looks great, it really makes the silver stand out on my car. Painting my calipers soon

I painted my front and back(drum) with a bright red. It looks awesome i get a lot of complements. Make sure you use a bright color though or it will not look that great

I will be painting mine a flat black.

Is it really necessary to use a primer first? I planed to use a dremel with a wire brush end to remove rust before I painted.
