  • Badge Removal

One of my Firebird badges on the doors are about halfway off. I left it on, though, because I didn't know if there would be glue residue and if the paint would be noticeably different under it. Also, I don't know how to safely get the rest of it and the other badge off... I'm sure you guys know, though. And is it the same for the door moulding?

Is goo-gone safe on the paint for the glue?

If you have a blow dryer, hit the badges for about 3-5 minutes (on high heat) and then try to pull them off. If that fails, try a heat gun for about 20-30 seconds, then attempt to pull them off. **BE careful with the heat gun** After removing them: Goo Gone is somewhat safe, just make SURE you re-wax the area(s) when you're done getting the rest of the "goo" off of the body!!! I have used it before to remove emblem residue without any problems. Just lightly go over the reside until it comes off...Don't rub it into the paint!

What specifically do you mean "go over?"

And supposing I decide not to mess with the moulding, does anyone make those mirror badges like they have for the Trans-Ams that say Firebird? I've looking, but I couldn't find any.

Go to a place and get them done in Vinyl in chrome or whatever.

Grip it & rip it, then Goo-Gone.

Use a hair dryer to soften the adhesive on the back, then pull off. Use isopropyl alcohol (drug store) to remove any adhesive residue.

FRICKEN FREAK... I was polishing and waxing yesterday, and I noticed that the paint behind the loose badge is chipping.

What kind of glue should I use on it? I'm definately going to fix this ASAP... my paint is bad enough as it is...

And should i sand the back of the badges a little to clean them or will goo-gone be sufficient?
