  • The greyish stripes on my car

I am not sure what they are called, not sure what they do, but those grey stipes on the sides of my car are ugly and i would like to remove them. I have tried searching what I thought they were called but to no avail. How do I get them off without ruining my paint. Thanks

I would probably try a hair dryer and some 3M adhesive remover.

They are pin stripes. Be warned the paint on your car may be faded more than the paint under the stripes. So it could be a bright red stripe down your car when you are done.

      1. Heat the stripe with a hair dryer.

      2. Peel the stripe slowly, pulling it off at a 90-degree angle while heating the next section. Do not overheat the paint, or it will be more likely to chip.

      3. Use a plastic putty knife if you don't have long fingernails, but be careful not to scratch the paint.

      4. Remove left over adhesive with product such as goo-gone. I have used it on a boat, but I'm not sure if it would hurt a cars clear coat so wait for someone else to chime in before using it.

      5. Wash the car thoroughly.

      6. Wax and enjoy!

Afterwards if the paint looks uneven (you can see where the stripes were) then try polishing around them to blend it in.
