  • Good Interior Paint

I plan on converting my light gray interior vinyl pieces to black, what is a good type of paint i can use to do so, and where can i get it. i want it to look close to stock black, nothing to shiney please. i'm not clearcoating it in other words like others. thanks

I just used some stuff off the shelf at the hardware in town. Nothing fancy needed, just make sure to sand them down and put primer on first. Then put some coats of your black down. I did my interior red and it looks great and a year later it still looks as good as it did the day I did them.

make sure you sand and primer it. youll need a good "stick" since your not clear coating. its going to be more likely to chip off.

              I went to,

              http://www.krylon.com/main/product_t...roduct_details

and they say that no sanding or priming is needed for this particular paint. So what would you do? Still sand and prime before this paint, or just go straight to this paint?

sand. It will stick without, but you want it to be smooth and even. I didnt prime, just used more coats of red.

the reason i say sand it is becuase of armor all and all that stuff that you put on to make it shiny. a light sanding ensures all of it is off and also gets rid of the texture for a smooth finish. you dont have to primer but i usually do if im painting bare stuff.

i like it smooth. i dont knwo how that would give it a ricey look to each his own though. just make sure you clean it thoroughly with alchohol or something similar, if you have access a wax removerer/degreeser would work best. this is just to prevent fish eyeing on you. thats whenever you spray the paint and it wont go on a certain spot it just kinda beads around it.

alcohol got off most of the armorall/wax/etc from the first time i painted mine, but where it wasnt all off it had fish eyes. I had used soap/water then alcohol the soap water again. It did that til i sanded the top layer off to make it smooth.

I didn't even clear coat my interior. The clear coat turned some of my pieces cloudy, so I skipped it on 75% of my stuff...
