  • $30 buffer

Saw a $30 buffer (cordless) at Meijer last night and I looked it over. Nothing sticking out were the buffer is so I would not risk scratching anything and it looked pretty good. Would it be good for the cavalier or should I stick with doing it by hand untill I can go with a nice high dollar one??? Do the cheap ones leave a lot of swirls???

I'd save myself the cash on those cheap buffers. I bought one before when I didn't know that much about detailing, to buff a car with compound effectively you'll need a nice buffer like snap on. Don't understand what you mean doing it by hand, unless your talking about buffing it with wax. In that case your not supposed to buff a car with wax or even go in a circular motion. The correct way too apply wax is back and forth motioning. The only reason you would want to buff your car with compound is if your car is looking pretty bad. And if thats the case I'd just get a body shop to do that for you. Anyway, sorry if i'm already repeating something you know, if not, i'm glad i can enlighten you, I do this stuff all day for a living.

Thanks for the info, I never knew that about going back and forth. I am used to shining my boots to a mirror shine to the point that you can see junk on your teeth (no joke) and I use a circular motion on them. I got the car last year and the previous owners took care of it but never took care of the outside of the car when it comes to waxing and all so it will be a good days worth of work to get it looking great.
